Here's a good one: When I returned to Brooklyn for Jefferson reunion, I think it was 1986, I took my husband all around ENY to see the neighborhood. We took pictures at 857 Schenck, 958 Schenck, all the circles, the candy stores, Bella Pizzeria, Cozy Bar, etc. I decided I wanted a tee shirt from Gershwin and Jefferson, so we went over there. I was standing way down the hallway and I hear a man scream out "Karen Seeman". I turned around and it was Mr. Dubin. I couldn't believe it, after all those years he remembered me from so far away, even. It was pretty amazing. Anyway, I got my tee shirt, but when we went to Jefferson my husband refused to get out of the car. Who could blame him, a farm boy from Ohio in front of Thomas Jefferson High School. I must have been crazy to even think of it. It looked like a war zone, much like when we went there.
