I haven't been on this site in a long time which
is why I haven't replied to this post until now.

I remember Mr. Kalman distinctly! I had him in the second year
of 3 year SP, that would be 8th grade and for me that was
1967. He was also the teacher that ran the Math Team of which
I was a member along with Morton Tankus and Eddie Camhi. I
attribute my love for mathematics to him and it has
certainly worked out for me as I have had a very
successful career as a computer scientist, all due
to Mr. Kalman's influence. I am also interested in
hearing that he used to bet at the local barber shop.
That puts a bit more human face on him.
