I too remember the neighborhood being 95% Jewish. It was overwhelming to me because I was the only Black girl in class for 6 years through PS 190 and then at Gershwin. I remember that I was turned around and couldn't get home on the night of those race wars. I lived in Linden all my life and couldn't get home because I was Black. The neighborhood wasn't multi-cultural unless you call a few black and a few christian families multi-cultural
