Those interested in the BBC (BRC) should read "The Nurturing Neighborhood," a history of Brownsville with emphasis on the BBC, by Prof. Jerry Sorin of SUNY. Between living in ENY (Elton Street 1943-51 and 630 Stanley Avenue from 1957-63), I lived in Brownsville (843 Saratoga Avenue), and was a member of the BBC after the new building opened in '54. Hot stuff swimming indoors in the winter, despite being made to wear a green bathing cap!
