: : I was wondering who remembers the wonderful Mr. Newton, the 7th grade Glee Club teacher who "prepped" us for Miss Olanoff? He was a great pianist, a genuinely nice guy, with impeccable musical taste. I remember being up on the bleachers in the auditorium with Leslie Kugler, Keith Epstein, and a whole bunch of others, being oh so grateful that Mr. Newton's jazzy piano back-up made us all sound so much better.
: :I remember exactly what my friend ken is stating here, especially since he was gracious enough to include me in his memory. I do not know if we really could sing all that well back then, but even if we could not, Mr. Newton always made us feel we were good. I really remember that as a group, we sounded darn good. The Halleleujah Chorus still sticks in my mind as a great masterpice that we, "The Glee Club" performed.
