Phil, it's amazing how many people remember the knish man on Livonia near Fortunoff's. Kindly old man, had to be at least 95 years old. I particularly remember the round salt shaker with the handle. It's one of those memories you try all your life to duplicate, but I have yet to taste a knish that is quite the same, and I still live in Brooklyn!! . Sort of like a black & white cookie, a comfort food that maybe should not be duplicated after all.
