Postscript: Today Dan is an MD pathologist pursuing a fellowship in medical informatics, but back in 1958 he'd just moved to 245 Wortman, apartment 14B. "I was three and my sister Elaine was one," he says. "One of my earliest memories is looking out the window in fascination as they paved Van Siclen Avenue. My brother Sandy was born in 1960 in the middle of a September hurricane, and the three of us shared a room." In 1965 Dan moved across the street to 270 Wortman, 5B. "Then I only had to share with my brother, while my sister got her own room," he adds. "I still hate her for that. (NOT!)"
