Dr. Jones, a veteran of three space shuttle missions, has already logged over 40 days in space. He is currently training for International Space Station assembly mission 5A - STS-98 - which is scheduled for the spring of 1999. During his upcoming mission the shuttle will deliver the U.S. Laboratory; Jones and veteran spacewalker Mark Lee will perform space walks to connect the Lab to Node 1.

While awaiting his next mission, Jones is currently helping to design the permanent living quarters of the Station, putting his $.02 in about the position of everything from the galley to the showers.

Jones, who says space travel fills him with a sense of happiness and awe, was interviewed by OMNI Editor Pam Weintraub. You can read a transcript of their conversation here.
