: One of my best memories of growing up in ENY in the '60s was getting together with friends and listening to records. We'd trade records and exchange recommendations of what to listen to.

: And the concerts! We'd go in groups to the Fillmore & the Garden. We'd talk endlessly about who we preferred: The Beatles or the Rolling Stones; Cream or Jimi Hendrix. It was a great time to be a kid, and the music really WAS better then.

Hi, Ed (and hello to Kenny too)! I remember those debates, and how
you showed definite musical tastes. For instance, Paul McCartney was
often named in music polls as one of the top bass players around (I think).
But you had little regard for his playing and instead, with Kenny,
praised the bass player Jack Bruce of Cream--and especially the guitar-playing talents
of Eric Clapton. Since my musical tastes tended more toward jazz,
our discussions on this probably had no point.

Remember the concert at StonyBrook, with the two
defectors from the Mothers of Invention (I forget
their names, but I think they were once part of a group
called The Byrds.) I believe you, me and KK were there.
One of the songs: Studebaker Hawk.

Memories, lalalalalalala

The popular rock music of the '60s and early '70s
is unbeatable.
