Dr. Robert S. Desowitz is internationally renowned as a teacher, lecturer, and researcher of malaria and other diseases. His previous books include New Guinea Tapeworms and Jewish Grandmothers, The Thorn in the Starfish, and The Malaria Capers. Dr. Desowitz is Emeritus Professor of Tropical Medicine and Medical Microbiology at the University of Hawaii and is currently Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He lives in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
