Dr. Shane Murphy served as sport psychologist for the United States Olympic Committee from 1987 to 1994. Now in private practice, he continues to train the nation's top athletes for the upcoming Olympics Games in Sydney and Nagano. He has consulted with 42 different national sports organizations, including extensive sport psychology consulting with elite athletes in sports as diverse as figure skating, track and field, archery, kayaking, tennis, speed skating, judo, boxing, table tennis, and cycling. Murphy received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Rutgers University. The Australian-born Murphy and his wife, also a clinical psychologist, live in Connecticut with their two children.
