Mark Wainberg, Ph.D., is professor of microbiology and virology at the McGill AIDS Centre, Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as well as president-elect of the International AIDS Society. He has done research on virus-host interactions and anti-viral drug development, and was the first scientist in Canada to isolate HIV from patient populations (in 1984).
