While we await Dr. Maccabee's arrival, a brief summary of his new book, an Avon paperback, "UFOs Are Real: Here's the Proof" by Ed Walters & Bruce Maccabee. His co-author, Ed Walters, claims to be a UFO experiencer, who has gathered first-hand data, including numerous photographs & videos, and at least one abduction.

Yes there are lots of photographs... and video! I have compiled a companion video to go with the book which supplies color copies of all the photos in the book and also supplied the videos with analysis.This book is more than just pictures, however. There is the testimony and then there is the analysis. This is the first book with the guts to say Here's Proof of UFOs and callenge the skeptics to explain how these pictures were faked ... if they were faked (which, in my opinion, they weren't). Data and calculations are presented so anyone can compare his analysis with mine.

Many of the published photos were received from readers of Ed's previous books. I'm assuming you haven't been able to analyze them to the same degree as Ed's pictures. Do they still hold up?

Ed has been accused of faking photos by the double exposure method. I have presented photos and analysis which COULD NOT HAVE been generated by this method. The reasons why the several photos could not be double exposures are clearly (I hope) presented in the book.Also in the book are a number of photos by other people from around the world showing the same sort of object. The pictures are clear enough to be either the hoax or the REAL THING (alien craft) No halfway point. It is therefore encumbent upon the skeptics to prove these are fakes.

The basic argument of the book is that Gulf Breeze, synonymous with Ed's own experiences, would exist whether Ed did or not. Consequently, "sky watches" have been going on for several years now. Have any of the reported sightings from these been hoaxed in your opinion?

Of particular importance are the videos which, of course, are not in the book. But they are the most difficult to fake. In particular the July, 1995 video of a UFO casting a shadow on the opposite shore. The distant shore is over a mile away. The shadow moves with the UFO. This case is described in the book and also in a paper on the NIDS (National Institute for Discovery Science) web site (www.accessnv.com/nids). When you get to the front page click on WHAT ELSE. It is also included in the COMPANION VIDEO to the book ... available from me.There are also sightings by others in Gulf Breeze reported in the book including MY OWN SIGHTING of Sept. 16, 1991 in the company of about 30 others. I saw a ring of 8 lights like a chandelier hanging in the sky. The sighting was documented on video and photographs. No explanation for it. There is also a sighting by Ed Walters when he took pictures in the presence of several other people. January 1990.

I keep getting kicked off. This must be the worst chat software ever developed.Regarding any hoaxes ... I don't know what you refer to, Ed's newer pictures, all of which have been thoroughly invesigated, or some of the "red light BUBBA" sightings of years past. They probably weren't hoaxes either.

Ed is not the only abductee. There were at least 8 thers that Dr. Overlade was working with. Dr. Ovelade was working wth 8 abductees when he died in 1990. Ed was his first abductee. Ed convinced Overlade something was really going on.

Sorry for typing errors. Can't type fast enough to "beat the clock". Anyway yes there were other abductees in the GB area. There has been a support group for about 10 years now.Ed had had more than one abduction. He was first abducted so far as we know at about 11, then 19, then 27, then 35, and then 42 or so.

The second part of my question would be, given that Ed is no longer abducted on a regular basis, why do UFOs persist on appearing near Gulf Breeze on a regular basis for others to see?

I don't know why UFOs persist for others to see. Ed sees them too occasionally (several times a year in some years ... see book). There were 170 recorded "Bubba" light events between Nov 1990 and July 1992, most recorded by others, not Ed.No one knows why UFOs do as they do. Hence the main argument still has to be whether or not they exist. I think the book provides as good a collection of photo/video based arguments as any ever published -- probably better than previous publications.
Readers of the book will also find some good old "down home" philosophy about being a UFO witness and what happens to people who go public. Also how to handle certain less credible types of people.
