Hello, everyone! Welcome to High Strangeness on Prime Time Live. My name is Patrick Huyghe and our guest this evening--live from England--is Alan Alford. An accountant by profession, Alford has traveled to more than 24 countries in his quest to solve the mysteries of mankind's mysterious past. All told, he has spent ten years conducting the research for his new book, Gods of the New Millenium, which carries the intriguing subtitle: scientific proof of flesh & blood gods.

Alford's enormous, beautifully produced book (for more information see his web site at http://www.eridu.co.uk) goes beyond Erich von Daniken, beyond Zecharia Sitchin. In it Alford presents a veritable mountain of evidence suggesting that we humans were genetically engineered by a flesh and blood super race whom we worshipped as "gods"--and whose return, according to Alford, is imminent.

In the course of developing a new chronology of the past, Alford has also come up with some rather surprising explanations for the Nazca Lines, Easter Island, and most importantly, the Great Pyramid. We'll get to all that later, but first a question to kick things off: The field of ancient mysteries is a crowded one these days, with Robert Bauval, Graham Hancock, and the aforementioned von Daniken and Sitchin, all busily trying to decypher the past. How does your work differ from all these others? What, in other words, are you bringing to the table?

My work differs from Hancok & Bauval as I, like Sitchin, believe that the ansers to the mysteries lie in "ancient astronauts" -- the gods of ancient mythology. My work can be viewed as an expansion of Sitchin, who has been my inspiration. I believe that there were some crucial aspects of Sitchin's thesis which didn't quite make sense.

So you have expanded on Sitchin. Please explain.

First, Sitchin claimed that the gods' apparent immortality came from the orbital period of Planet X, their home planet which has a 3600 year orbit. But I just can't see how that works. I have revised Sitchin's theory with a new theory that the gods' immortality had a genetic basis. By recognising this, so many aspects of ancient mythology click into place. For instance the numerous references in ancient texts to enormous life spans, in the Old Testament and in the Sumerian Kings Lists, also in Egypt.

So these "gods," these ancient astronauts, you say are immortal, or do they simply have very long lives?

It is a genetic longevity. Our scientists have discovered in the last 5 years or so that our aging is primarily a genetic programme. They are very close to unlocking the secrets which will extend our life spans. It is my belief that in the next 50 years we will be giving our astronauts genetic longevity in order for them to carry out missions through inter-stellar space. Otherwise how could they survive such long journeys etc.? The question is did this happen to us -- were these immortal gods in fact astronauts with longevity? I think the answer is yes.

Now tell us, who are these "gods" who you say created us, when did they do it, and why did they do it?

Let me expand on the evidence. The ancient texts say that the gods preferred to marry their half sisters. Also that the son born by a half-sister took legal preference even over a first-born son. This suggests something of genetic importance. These gods used genetic enginnering to create us as a hybrid from the existing Homo erectus around 200,000 years ago. That's when Homo sapiens emerged with his 50% bigger brain, language capability and a modern anatomy. They created us, according to the ancient texts, as a slave. NASA is now implying something similar may be done by us. It is recommended that we travel light to other planets and maximise the use of the raw materials we find there. DNA is such a raw material. Ethical considerations aside it makes a lot of sense to create a slave race.

Both Genesis and the Sumerian texts state that this is what happened. Because we were created in the image of the gods, we inherited their longevity genes -- initially, however, we were a hybrid and therefore unable to procreate. Then came the Garden of Eden incident. Until that time man was allowed access to the Tree of Life - longevity was not a problem because we could not breed. Then, once sexual knowledge was acquired (an intervention explained in my book) longevity risked a massive population explosion. That's why we were kicked out of Eden. The inheritance of our genetic longevity explains why Adam is allotted 930 years in the Bible. In my book I have set out a chronology which explains how and why this figure was UNDER-STATED!

I find both anti aging stratagies and ancient astronauts fascinating. I never stopped to think that they could be related. One interesting point; Astronauts tend to be our best and brightest people, so they'd be obvious candidates for anti aging treatments, but what of the rest of us? Who would recieve such treatments in an increasingly overpopulated world? Would it be ethical to deny, say, long term welefare recipients with such treatments?

Thanks for that question. I hate to say it but I think you'll find it will be restricted to an elite. The astronauts will be a pragmatic case. The mission controllers back here on Earth will also put forward a good case for those magic genes!

Sitchin has argued the case well that they came for minerals. He thinks gold specifically, but when I asked him about his sources for this claim, he didn't respond. So I am saying minerals generally.

You talk about a "star clock" and knowledge by the ancients of the Earth's precessional cycle. How does this fit into your theory? And what does this have to do with where the "gods" are now?
MsgId: *high_strangeness(31)

Thanks for asking that! This is really important. Bauval etc have talked about the star-clock at Giza and it is well known that the ancient Sumerians (mathematical system) and Egyptians had precessional knowledge. No-one has yet explained why the knowledge of the Earth's 26,000 year cycle was so important. Why was it so sacred, why divided into 12 periods of 2,160 years? In my book I have given a full explanation for the origin of this mysterious knowledge.

The importance of such a long cycle makes perfect sense when considered in the context of "gods" with genetic longevity. Ancient texts suggest that the gods took "turns" to rotate Lordship over the Earth, hence the divisions into 2,160 year periods. Carl Jung among others has notcied the ancients' amazing awareness of precessional crossovers, such as the one we are now approaching. The Age of Aquarius is very misunderstood. It is to do with ASTRONOMY not astrology. History suggests that the new era, which is imminent, will see major changes in world affairs - a new world order. In the last chapter of my book I have discussed the implications concerning the possible "return" of the gods in the near future.

I'm sorry to say I haven't read your book yet. Would you speculate on our current relationship with the "gods"? Are they watching? Are we still serving them in some way, or have we been abandoned after serving our purpose?
MsgId: *high_strangeness(35)

It is possible that we have been continuing to serve them without knowing it. But I'd rather say no more. The key question is where are they now. They could of course be passing among us, because they look like us. There have long been rumours of individuals such as the Count de St Germaine who influence human affairs through long periods of history. William Bramley has suggested that they have been here throughout the last 2000 years. Why they have kept such a low profile, we really don't know. There are lots of possible reasons. My own feeling is that they are here and their "return" is more political than physical.

Now how does the Great Pyramid fit into all this? What solution do you propose for the mystery of the Great Pyramid?
MsgId: *high_strangeness(38)

From: ALFORD At: 194.72.63.99

Now I have not spoken out much concerning the Great Pyramid, for the simple reason that there are already too many Pyramid(iot) theories in the world. But I have devoted a chapter or two in my book to solving its functions. I had to decide whether to include my theory knowing that the pyramid doorway was due for an imminent opening which could have proved me wrong within a month. So I thought very hard about it and felt confident I was right.

So now we have 1,000,001 theories -- mine being that it is a hydrogen-gas-fired power generator. My conclusion is based on the physical evidence plus what the ancient texts said about the Great Pyramid. The theory makes sense only according to an entirely different paradigm, which is set out in my book. The important thing is to put the Great Pyramid into historical context, as Sitchin has done so well. Then Bauval came along with his 10450 BC dating. Everything fits into place, though I can hardly do justice to it here.

Isn't precession a continuum and not a "crossover" event?

The precessional crossover relates to the point where the stars shift from one era to the next. The gods used observatories to decide the matter. One of these is quite famous -- Stonehenge in England!

Yes, Machu Picchu was, I believe, also used as a stellar observatory. I climbed up the mountain above the site and found the skyline just perfect for observing the stars. The Intihuatana at the site below is the image of this mountain. Both are aligned to Salcantay mountain which was very sacred to the Incas and their predecessors, who were VERY interested in the stars.

Could you give a tumbnail sketch of "the return of the God's"? Would they announce themselves, or quietly slide into positions of influence? What might their agenda be? I realize that you don't want to give the whole book away, but I haven't yet read it and this conversation has me intrigued ...

I was referring to the stars literally and their positions which change due to the Earth's wobble on its axis. Trust me - look up an astronomy book afterwards! As for those abductions, I'd rather not comment until we know more about the nature of the phenomenon.

You are referring to the "proud and arrogant" paradigm which is what has got us into such difficulties. Archaeologists and Egyptologists are especially guilty of trying to make history match a pattern of continual cultural evolution. My paradigm suggests that what has actually happened is a cultural degradation. It is for this reason that there are so many anomalies in the history books. I would like to think that if I find half as many anomalies in my thesis that I will go back to the drawing board :-) Actually I plan in my next book to make an Appendix of all the new information which does NOT fit the paradigm. Then my readers can see whether the paradigm is holding up. If only the Egyptologists had been doing this, their appendices would be bigger than the rest of the books!

Well, in respect of the Great Pyramid, an empty chamber behind that door would suggest that I'm right. Also any proof of structures on Mars would strongly support the ancient astronaut theory. And of course I expect confirmation when the Sphinx chamber is opened in 1998!

It signifies the precessional Age of Leo c. 11000-8800 BC. Ancient texts refer to a war of the gods and a peace settlement made at Giza by the goddess Ninharsag. Records of this may well be situated beneath the Sphinx. Oh,the Sohinx also symbolically showed the way along the 30th parallel to the gods' space centre in Sinai, but that's another story - see chapter 8 in the book!
